TextraWeb (web interface for Textra)

Basically, something very close to WhatsApp Web; a web interface that locally (not cloud based) connects to the phone and allows messaging & interaction from a browser UI.

Right now, there is a very small subset of services that do "online texting" - MightyText and Pushbullet are the major two players. DeskSMS used to be popular, but isn't supported by the developer and has largely been removed from the Play Store. Today, MightyText put a nail in their own coffin by limiting free accounts to 500 messages per month, which will make most serious free-tier users leave or look elsewhere.

In my opinion, Textra is the premiere SMS application. I find it to be the best texting application that I have ever used. It has wonderful features, wonderful design, and was clearly built with love and thought. I would love to see the application become even more accessible with a web UI :)

I am a web developer by profession and I spend most of my day messaging. I would love to help build something like this, if you guys are ever looking for a developer to help out (for free) I would be more than glad to chat.

    I have to echo some of the comments here. I have been a Textra users for a few years now, paid for premium, love the interface and features that I can't get from Android messages. However, I have always wanted a web interface with Textra. It's such a powerful and user friendly app I want to see it go to the next level with the same service Google is offering through it's sms app. Keep up the good work.

    Google Messages works really well on the web. It's going to start loosing you users as it's very similar to using WhatsApp Web. Please consider adding this feature ASAP!!

    YES! pleaseeeee! I converted from google Message to Textra for the features, and my messages weren't being delivered, but the web app would be VERY convenient!

    We've been asking for this for 2 years now Textra! Come on! If nothing else, please promote a client to work WITH Textra.

    +1 on a web interface for textra. It's bs that Android is not requiring that apps be default to send an SMS from that app. I've always had multiple messaging apps and they've all worked fine contributing to the same messaging thread. I digress- I'd like a web messaging option. Even if it's just a Chrome extension or something. Thanks

    +1 to the last comment - I love Textra and have been using it for years, but the web client coming with Android Messages is pretty damn nice.
    Honestly, if Textra just worked with the default Android Messages web UI it'd be great.

    Android messages has now released their web version. I've been using Textra premium for a couple years now and prefer its interface (and access to gif, uploads, emojis, etc), but now I'm torn. Do I go back to messenger because it's way easier to type on the computer, or do I stick with Textra? I might be swapping back and forth between the two apps - messenger at home and textra while away - but I can see that I'll quickly tire of the back-and-forth.

    This suggestion had another thread with a lot more votes, unfortunately that thread has been deleted.
    Any plans that you can let us know about or is this a definite not going to happen idea?

    If you would like something that will work with Textra, I just ran across (and have been using for about 10 days now): https://textto.io. I am not associated with Textt.io and have no relationship with it other than having used it successfully. It works well, fast, is free, and there are no usage limits.

    Still hoping we see a "Textra version" in the future, or that the potential Android web messaging interface supports non-standard texting apps.

    This is definitely a huge missing piece. It's a big effort to implement I"m sure, but it'd be worth it. I'm checking out Pulse now just because of this feature.

    It makes total sense to have this. Obviously the security needs to be top notch. This puts textra on par with the best of the best. I'm on my PC right now and wish I could text from it, rather than having to pick up, unlock, and use my phone while I'm doing things on my PC.
