Make textra compatible with samsung smart watches (Tizen OS support)
Textra isn't compatabile with any of the Samsung gear watches - which run on the Tizen OS. I wish textra would make themselves compatabile with Samsung's smart watch OS. Defeats the purpose of having a smart watch if you can't check all your messages on it...

Please, Textra and Samsung, work something out so that my very expensive smartwatches will be compatible; otherwise, my next watch or phone will not be a Samsung. I am using a Samsung Fold 3. This is one of the sole reasons I bought this watch. All other past Samsung watches I have purchased have been compatible with Textra, but not the Samsung Galaxy 4. Truly sad...

Mine works after slight setting adjustment:
1. Went to "Wear" app on Phone
2. On "Home" screen in Wear app, click on "Notifications"
3. Scroll to bottom of Notifications screen, under recently sent, click "See All", taking you to the "Apps to get notifications from"
4. Drop Down menu at top is defaulted at Most Recent. Change this to "All" or "Blocked" and turn on Textra and any other apps you want notifications from.
5. Friend sent text to test, and it worked.Good Luck All!

Couldn't agree more. With high majority of Textra users being Android users. This would be a smart move to make if they wish to keep us on board with their app. I'm not getting rid of my watch, but I will get rid of Textra if it can't keep up with new technologies by using it.

I had problems and couldn't get my galaxy watch to work with my texts app but after messing around with it I got it to work with my watch
1) to to your phone settings
2) go to app
3) scroll down till you see textra app
4) make sure textra isn't blocked , if so hit allow and make sure you make textra your default
This worked for me after trying for 4 months .. I wish you luck -

Not to just keep yelling at a wall, but I am also experiencing this incredibly frustrating issue now. My main issue is that I can't see images or videos on my watch from texts unless I use the default text app.
just some feedback from the devs about this would be nice, so we can at least know if it's on the backlog or not. -

I agree! It's so frustrating. I love Textra AND I love my Gear 2. Has anyone be able to get these two to work with each other?

I just got my Gear S3 and Jon's suggestions aren't working. I can only see texts I've sent, not that I've received, on my watch.

Has anyone found any workarounds for this problem?
I've REALLY wanted a smartwatch for years now but won't pull the trigger if it can't start a text message from the watch (if using Textra as default app on phone). -

why is this still a thing? It is 3 years later!

I have to agree with everyone on here. I prefer Textra over any other messaging app and, while I appreciate the fact that i can respond to pushed notification on my gear s2 when I'm with my phone, I would like to be able to leave my phone behind at times and receive as well as write my texts using textra.

I definitely agree. I absolutely love textra, paid for the add free version as well. The fact that I can't understand it with my gear s2 classic is just disappointing

This is a big deal. Samsung messaging app sucks, but Gear 2 is great phone. Please help.

Like others, I don't want my texts to popup and be readable on my phone. It is sometimes in view of others and I don't want someone to be able to read my texts without unlocking the phone. This means that I can't read texts on my Gear S2, although I think I can respond to them...
If you are concerned that there are not enough Gear S2 users, you should know that Samsung just gave away at least 35,000 of the 3g version of the S2 to new Galaxy S7/S7 Edge owners. I think that a number of them would rather use Textra than Samsung's messaging app.

@Yajaira - I believe I went into "Settings" then "Customize Notifications" and then turned on both "Floating Notification (Unlocked)" and "Floating Notifcation (Locked)".

Would one of you be so kind to state exactly what I need to change in privacy settings or notifications so that I can receive messages on my Samsung galaxy s2 watch?
Thanks!

agree with Jon on that last point please make it possible to separate watch and phone settings re floating notifications !
