The status bar notification disappears within seconds, when receiving messages for the active conversation, even if the phone is locked!
When the screen gets locked, all the notifications for the current (active) conversation disappear very fast.
That is the only issue I have with this app, elwhich I consider excellent and very pleasant to use.
The stock Samsung app was only automatically clearing the notification when the screen was unlocked, and thus the message was read.
