No Unread Notification on App Icon & Notification Swipe = read messages?
ust downloaded Textra and love the app, but 2 things are preventing me from making it the default app.
1) When I get a text, if I swipe away the notification, why does it count that swipe as a read message? How can I swipe away the notification without it marking the message as read?
2) Unlike the Samsung default messaging app, the Textra icon doesn't display the number of unread messages. So I have to go into the app to see how many unread messages there are, if any.
How can I change this?

Hy,
I’ve noticed that too sometimes when the notification badge doesn’t clear or swiping doesn’t mark messages as read, it’s usually tied to background sync or notification permissions glitching. Clearing cache or re-enabling notifications often fixes it. Interestingly, some apps handle alerts much better with real-time sync. I came across https://kk33gamepk.com/ while testing a few apps, and its notification system updates instantly without needing manual refresh. Might be worth comparing how different apps manage push notifications gives a better idea of what’s causing the issue on your end. -

Hy,
I’ve seen this happen with a few apps sometimes notifications don’t sync properly, so the badge count doesn’t update even though messages are marked as read when you swipe them away. It’s usually tied to background activity restrictions or delayed push updates. Clearing cache or checking notification permissions can help. Interestingly, apps with real-time interactions (like multiplayer games) handle this better since they rely on constant syncing. I came across a breakdown here: https://3patigold.pk/ that explains how some apps manage live updates and user activity it gives a bit of context on why these notification mismatches happen. -

That’s a good question, and it depends a lot on how your phone handles notifications. On some devices, swiping a notification away doesn’t always mark the message as read inside the app, which can cause the unread badge to stick around. I’ve run into this with game and chat apps where background syncing is aggressive. I found a helpful breakdown of how notification behavior works across different Android versions here https://getshadowfight2apk.com/ it explains why this happens and what settings usually fix it.
