Textra for PC/desktop
Will Textra ever consider building a PC version of the app so users can read SMS on a desktop computer? That would be so great!

I absolutely ADORE Textra, been using it for years, as I love to customise my apps...unfortunately, I need to be able to text from my computer, and I had to go to Google Messages in order to link all my devices for free. I had been using Mighty Text but it's glitchy, costs too much and eats up too much memory on my PC.
Google Messages works, but I hate the UI and am afraid I'm going to text the wrong person because all the contact colours look the same. (Form following function at a great distance...BORING.)
I assigned different UI colours to each person (Blue for my boss, burgundy for my husband) so I don't send a hot text to my boss by mistake!
Hoping Textra considers implementing a PC version...I miss being able to identify text senders at a glance using a colour icon! I would gladly pay to upgrade to this.

A browser-based solution would be good as browsers are available in practically all platforms and OSes. If I am in work mode, it is so much easier to type on a keyboard rather than swipe-typing in my phone.
Sometimes I just swap the default SMS app to Google Messages so I can work on the desktop. But it really is a hassle.
Using PushBullet or MightyText is not recommended on higher-than-usual security environments. (And higher-than-usual security environments normally don't use Windows.)

Given the state of Phone companion and a couple other apps out there that also do the same, I don't see any reason for them to spend resources on this. It would have been nice 5-10 years ago but no longer relevant.

Microsoft just announced that Windows 11 will allow installation of Android apps natively. Does this mean we will be able to just take the apk file and install it on a pc and get it to work?

I'm seeing requests for texting from a laptop or tablet going back to 2017, but there seems to be no response at all. I'm using Pulse and about to give up on Textra unless someone can promise that development is close to final.

After having used T for ca 5 years, gradually losing interest in it. Despite it deletes old emails with no warning, the lack of templates, and the lack of PC port simply shows that the developer is not interested in development.
And having PC version is not "putting it above the rest", as someone wrote. It's a must today. I thought, here I would find some devs' interest in users' voice, but as I can see, no devs interested in it. So, looking for another solution. -

This feature will put them above the rest. I can schedule texts but the freedom to have it on my laptop while getting work done would be so amazing.

Does Textra even look at this page? This feature is progressive, they lose the competitive edge for not even addressing this with us. I am looking for another texting app that gives me the option to have up up on my desktop. iOS has it going on. The technology is there, my son just developed a recruiting texting web-based app accessible on both PC/MAC and iPhone/Android. He did this for my company but my God, he's 21.

How do I get this to work on my computer?

I agree with the earlier comments - adding this feature should be a no-brainer. If funding is an issue I would happily pay an upgrade - even above my current pro license. Or I'd consider contributing to a gofundme if the timeline is defined. For now I'm fed up and am going to look into other options.

that would be great. i did not enjoy using push bullet at all. it was annoying to use and i dont want to switch to google messages just to see texts on my laptop when Im working. I mean what year is it? I still cant just do this easily with whatever texting app I am using on my phone?

I was a Textra user, switched to Google Messages. I love being able to text from my PC, and Google Messages makes it easy (was easier to setup than Pushbullet).

Please add this feature - I would gladly pay for it! Otherwise, it's back to Google Messages for me...

Love the customization possibilities of Textra, even after the change in notification logos, but have been looking for something else because of this feature. I love the way Signal Messenger handles the desktop application (not just in browser) and Android Messages has almost everything I need (minus customizations). It's getting harder and harder to justify using Textra when all these other apps are moving forward and Textra is just stuck in place. "Because I paid for it" isn't as good of an excuse as it used to be.

Textra enthusiasts have been requesting desktop companion functionality for several years now. I cannot donate $$ or make Textra my go-to until it has this. If funding is an issue, start a crowdfund I'm certain you'll get plenty of support.
