Settings - Your Mobile Number

What does it mean if in the settings 'your mobile number' you have the wrong cell phone number.

i.e. my cell # is: 253-xxx-xxxx but in the settings it was listed as 206-www-wwww

Would this send the message to both numbers? How did the wrong number get listed in this setting?

    Is the meaning of this field documented anywhere? I'd like to send SMS messages from one account but have replies go to another (analogous to a reply-to field in email). I set "Your Mobile Number" to the one where I'd like replies, but the SMS went out with my real mobile number. No problem if that's a security or anti-spam requirement, but what does the field do?
