For the MMS lock issue, a Textra enhancement could notice the android version, carrier type, message failure and then automatically trigger a restart of the android service causing the issue. A cell phone's purpose is primarily for communication, so if the service restart causes a temp outage with other applications, that is acceptable. If this is really a sticking point, it would be a simple matter of making the service force restart a user configuration toggle switch in the settings menu.
