Text by Web
I recently purchased a Chromebook which connects to an Android phone VIA Bluetooth. This permits "Messages by Web.” This feature allows the user to send and receive regular SMS messages using only their Chromebook. After creating a message and selecting “Send,” that data is transmitted to the Android phone through Bluetooth. The phone then transmits the message to the recipient through normal channels. When receiving an SMS, the process is simply reversed. It’s an extremely convenient tool with one huge exception: it forces the user to set Google’s “Messages” as the primary app for SMS activity. Having used Textra Pro on a daily basis since August of 2015, I don’t want to be forced to constantly switch defaults whenever on the Chromebook. To that end, if possible per Google’s licensing stipulations, I would very much appreciate seeing Textra add the Messages by Web feature in a future upgrade.
