Option to send long SMS messages as MMS message
Along side the option to split SMS messages, I would like to have the option to send a text MMS message if the characters exceed 160. This would come in handy for messages with alot of emoticons and other random things.

This has been completed in v3.22 of Textra. It’s a global setting (for all contacts) as well as customizable on a per contact basis (for example you only need it for sending to friends on Verizon network if you are on t-mobile). Out this week.

8sms has an option for thus so not everyone has to use it...just us with unlimited mms. Pleaseeeeee

Please, make this a user-configurable option. Clearly some want it, some don't. I want/need it. Free unlimited MMS here. I find myself switching back to stock Messenger when I have something big to say.. I'd rather not.

I definitely wouldn't want this forced on me! Having my sms converted to mms costs me money. My package gives me unlimited sms but I pay per mms. Auto converting to mms in the stock app is why I an looking for a different sms app. I send large texts on Windows phone (in excess of 1500 characters) and also on my old Symbian phones and they never arrive out of order and never get converted to mms, so why do I have to do that on Android? Maybe mixing up the order is down to the carrier. I don't know but it's never happened to me. Friends just receive one big text in the right order.

I agree. We must be able to have this option to send one longer mms instead of contacts receiving several little blocks.

I agree. Go SMS has this feature to convert individual SMS messages to MMS, but since it seemed to be bit of a hog I decided to try Textra. This is a huge oversight on the part of Textra and is going to keep it from becoming my default texting app. Guess I will have to try 8sms others have mentioned.

This is a must. My messages often come in mixed up order. I have had people i have sent messages say that also.

Individual texting between family and friends who are far away often involves larger text messages. The option to send MMS in individual text would be awesome.

Yeah, in a LDR and can't use this app if it splits my long texts into two sentence messages. Insanity! Bummer, because I did enjoy the rest of this interface.

This is now a necessity. It's ridiculous to think in 2015 this feature is not standard.
