With the new Pixel 6 and beveled edge this is even more important. The double tap on the bevel is annoying as hell.. FIX THIS PLEASE.

you have to be kidding me. This swipe to the side delete is basic. Please add this. Put this in Settings

Agree with Kyle Thompson. I'm about to give this away as well. Too many clicks to just delete a message. One swipe for google and outlook, and android messages. major fail

blech. still not available I see. this is a show-stopper, Textra. So many other apps have this, even the not-great-by-other-means Simply Text. I want an option in Settings to eliminate Delete Confirmation. I understand if i change that default, it's on me if i accidentally swipe a text away to never-neverland, but it should be my choice. I have no interest in swiping and clicking twice to delete a message. Every time I try to come back to Textra, i see this hasn't changed and away I go again. I love the notifications-by-contact feature, but that's not enough to overcome the lack of a setting to just let me one-swipe-delete messages and threads. This is pretty standard in 2018. let's get on it.

Please add this as an option. Check out the Pulse app. They handle this well.

The option to delete without having to confirm each delete by clicking on the Trash icon a second time would be a great plus. Storing them in a Deleted Items folder if one (or more needs to be recovered would be event better..... but I and many others would really appreciate clicking just once on the Trash icon to delete a message!!!!

need swipe to delete. Will find some other sms managing app in absence of that :(. That was the very reason I installed the app.

Just simply annoying and counter-productive to have to 1) swipe, then 2) TAP, then 3) TAP AGAIN. :) Why not adding fingerprint confirmation or vocal one ? :)) Would you mind to ease the deleting process, in an efficient way ? With sliding only... or letting us choose if we want to CONFIRM AND CONFIRM ... :) thanks a lot !

Please allow option to eliminate the two-tap confirmation. You could have a "deleted items" area that you could empty once in a while or recover a deletion from instead of having to do 3 gestures for every deletion. Thanks!

Switch the swipe to delete to the swipe left please. It's just more convenient because it would be on the right, and that reach for the left side is uncomfortable. This app is perfect tho. Been using it for years. Pro User :)

Please please please make this better. 3 gestures (swipe, open, delete) to remove a message?? So so slow. How about just swipe to delete with a trash can that auto empties after x days so you can easily retrieve. Or simply swipe, delete.

There are like 8 request just like this one. If folks would search first and vote on others there'd be a lot more votes on this issue.

And add an undo option for mistakes (like gmail) plus change the action where clicking on the contact picture allowed multiple selections. It's very difficult for users of both apps to have them look so similar but then have different actions associated with gestures. It could even be a setting addon for users that prefer the current system.
