While traveling internationally, I started getting messages from people with whom I had running chats, but new chats were created. The original typically showed the sender's phone number as (xxx) xxx-xxx, while the new chat showed the number as xxx xxx xxxx. Textra correctly identified the contacts as identical but created two chats and unpredictably divided messages between the two. I imagine the number differences come from upstream of Textra, but I would appreciate if Textra would consolidate these two chats to preserve continuity when scrolling back through. It's tedious to switch between the two chats and sets of timestamps in order to read a conversation.
