Allow sorting of blocklisted numbers
SPAM is one of the top 3 challenges for mobile phones users... SMS spam is the toughest to address as spammers use unending different numbers to ghost their own real number.
Textra has done a few cursory improvements to help customers with spam. I am grateful yet it doesn't scratch the surface of the need.
First: Give users robust control over reviewing the blocked list using filters. This is not a convenience request; it is necessary to manage the neverending hundreds upon hundreds of blocklisted numbers users aquire.
Accidentally blockisting a righteous contact is a total nightmare to correct.
Reviewing blocklisted numbers is virtually impossible as they appear is some unrecognizable order.
Being in "numerical" order is 100% worthless to users.... we would have to keep a separate log of every blocklisted number to even begin finding one. on multiple occasions I've had to delete my entire blocklist to correct errors and unblock someone.
Deleting multiple numbers from blocklist is another nightmare.... who has time to individually delete/unblock hundreds of numbers? No one!
Secondly: PLEASE, PLEASE develop realistic systems for identifying, reviewing, and blocking spam.
I am aware that telephone companies are the key to this problem. Every single call, SMS, and email message passes through their systems if the user primarily uses a cellular phone for these functions....even almost antique folks as myself are dependent on cellular for 90% of my communications.
Work with providers to develop EFFECTIVE means to stop this insanity. From previous investigative employment, I am aware that providers have dozens of income methods simply by holding a line open/in use for seconds or fractions thereof. It can not be coincidence that even the major providers don't put a stop to spammers & scammers.
Similar to Textra (who I doubt has any connection with making money off spam), providers make elaborate systems for users to "manage" spam. They don't work.
Please start by giving users effective management of spam (including those using short numbers, email addresses, "verified" phone numbers, and, of course spoof numbers & emails) similar or better than described above.
Then, please partner with providers to develop effective, long-term solutions.
Thank you for your considerations.
