It's not necessary. It would just shorten the width of the message.

The name is available above the message. That is sufficient.

This would be a great feature especially in group chats to quickly identify who said what instead of having to read their names.

Actually, it would be very nice if there were options to select which would be shown in individual threads. Giving the user the option to select name only, photo only, or both.
