Has anyone tested MacSonik Thunderbird Backup Tool for long-term email archiving?
I'm creating long-term archives of important Thunderbird mailboxes and want something more reliable than simply copying profile folders. My ideal solution should let me create searchable backups while giving me flexibility over attachments and archived date ranges.
After comparing several utilities, I found the MacSonik Thunderbird Backup Tool. It appears to support exporting emails into numerous archival formats like PDF, MBOX, PST, EML, HTML, DOCX, TIFF, PNG, JPG, GIF, CSV, and more.
The attachment management options seem particularly useful. I can include attachments, exclude them entirely, or save them separately as PDF files depending on the project requirements.
I also noticed that the software offers a preview before processing, supports selective date-based backups, removes duplicate emails automatically, maintains folder hierarchy, and claims to deliver accurate results without data loss.
The free version appears limited to backing up 50 emails per folder, while the full version unlocks unlimited migrations, duplicate removal, PST splitting, attachment options, and all advanced features.
For those using it regularly, do you consider it dependable enough for long-term business email archiving, or would you recommend another workflow?
