Please add this. There is no reason for my messaging app to take up 700Mb.

Please give serious consideration to adding this functionality. Personally, I'd love to be able to delete messages older than a certain time frame. Ideally, if you can add the ability to do bulk deletion by either date or number of messages while still letting those who want keep all their messages, that'd be awesome.

A smart feature like this seems pretty basic, I am surprised that it is a missing feature still.

Please keep the option to keep all messages forever. I find going through old messages is useful. Especially with the built in search.

Absolutely necessary.

This is a must for any decent management of your messages. Either by a max message count to keep or even maybe by time would be good... Or both.
Use Textra all day everyday for work and really need a back log.. But I don't need to keep forever just a couple months. Deleting one at a time is crazy. Maybe even the ability to delete by month.
Great app! That really NEEDS this feature... It's to polished otherwise to not have something in place. -

hello
please make this option available
very important to still have smooth application, without having 10 000 per conversations -

Many of the other sms apps can do this, it would be a great way to manage the textra database.

I can't even figure out how I delete a message?

Pretty simple, make it an option, either on a schedule, or else a manual purge, but to not have it is irresponsible.

Please go for it

I'm surprised this isn't an option to limit.

i dont understand why it still not implemented :(

Yes. It would be a huge help. When old messages are stacked, it would take a long time to delete all.

I'm surprised this still hasn't been implemented. Textra regularly consumes several GB of storage with thousands of old messages. As there's no easy way to delete old messages matching a set of parameters, I'm forced to periodically switch back to the stock messaging app and send messages in each long thread to trigger the deletion of old messages while preserving recent ones. Then, I must clear the Textra cache/data and once again set it as the default messaging app, which means a reinitialization of the initial optimization. It would be nice to see some attention regarding this rather essential feature to avoid all this.

I have 500mb of space being used by textra bc this isn't a feature. Standard feature on pretty much all texting apps

Please DO NOT set it as default! I would be ruined if my texted automatically were deleted!
