Any update on this.... I'm thinking of getting rid of this app and switching to another one purely for this reason.... I love the app but need my 2gb back and I don't have time to manually delete all of the messages! Ugghh super frustrating!

I thought this feature did exist. Guess my memory was from handcent app. Bummer.

I have no more memory on my phone because I have so many messages sitting in this app years old. I spent hours yesterday manually deleting and it's barely made a dent. PLEASE give the option to set limits on number of messages per thread or at the very least, an easier way to bulk delete.

I guess devs have our opinions somewhere deep inside theirs...you know...
It's been so long since we requested that idea, and people gave so many votes. And? Nothing but some useless updates with emoticons etc. -

Is there any update on where the work on this idea stands? This is by far the most popular new feature users want.

This option would be very useful. An alternative solution would be to allow users to delete items before a certain calendar date I.e. A command to delete all texts past a year ago, 6 months ago, 3 months, 1 week, etc. On the programming aspect this would be a very simple task to solve the problem.

Add a text counter so that you can see the number of texts in each group. Handcent kept a counter and auto-deleted after a number set by the user. I had mine set to 1000 sms, 30 mms, but it was pretty much completely customizable by user.

I understand putting developer time into features making the app look sexy to increase the number of the downloads and gain clout. You have that now. So in order to take your app to the next level, you need to implement this feature, as in now. Based on people's comments including my own, please make the range for the number of messages to keep from 0 - infinity. I am a developer myself, so I know this isn't any more difficult to do than preset numbers. The Data portion of my Textra app is now at 9.14GB and I need to keep around that for my business activities, however, it is approaching an upper usability limit. Obviously I utilize another app to backup my text messages, so I don't need to keep them past a certain date, so this is another option to base archiving on. For instance I only have about 1 month of text messages stored on my phone and this is sufficient, but my volume per day is increasing. I think having both a number of texts per thread and date option would be the best solution. I choose Textra as my messaging app for several reasons and I would prefer to not change now, but I need this feature now.
As a side note, please include an option to delete all older texts upon selection. This will help gain user acceptance as well.
Thank you!

I'd like to keep all messages! If you limit them, I'll uninstall.
Maybe set the optionoption to archive? -

Make the limit higher please

Why not just hide them after say 100 or so then to view more you need to scroll up and refresh kinda like the iphone
That's one feature i like about it. -

Please don't make it just up to 1000. I have 40k messages and I would like to keep like 5k of them. We text a lot so I don't want to lose information like dates and whatever so I can search for them. But 1k wouldn't be enough. So please make the limit higher
