"Don't Auto Open Keyboard on Quick Compose Screen" Option
On my phone my keyboard is pretty tall, so when I go to send an image or quick compose, I can only see a few of my "favorites" icons in a row or so. I have to close my keyboard, then press the icon(s)/face(s) to send to, then re-open the keyboard.
What would be great is if the keyboard didn't automatically start open on the Quick Compose screen. 99% of my texts are sent to my "favorites" who have icons to click on anyway. So the keyboard would then open if you clicked IN the recipient box (rather than a favorite icon) or the message box.
At least if this was a checkbox option, users who mostly use their favorites wouldn't have the hide the keyboard to scroll down to other favorites... while users who type first could choose not to enable this option.
A possible alternative would be an option or slider to resize the "favorites" icons. So right now it fits 3 across on my screen... I could shrink them down to fit 4 or 5 across to have easier access to the favorites icons without the 2-step process of having to hide my keyboard.
(Also - side note - your old "T" logo was SO much better! Please consider bringing the old one back! The new green is just too bright and feels more "generic" while the old shade of green was so much more pleasing).
Thanks for listening!

Ultimately, for me the issue is that the keyboard takes up too much room and I can't see a message longer than about two or three lines. So, either get rid of the auto display keyboard, or allow the composed message more room to display.

Please implement this! I have quite a few favorites who are hidden by my keyboard. What's the point of showing your favorites if you have to type their names in anyway to find them. At least allow an option to keep the keyboard hidden upon composition of a message until tapping on the "To" line. Most of the time I will be selecting from my choices of favorites. Thanks

Agree this is needed everywhere. I have my settings set to open Textra when clicking on a notification in the drawer or popup and auto opening the keyboard makes reading the initial message difficult (even with a 5.5" display)

I would like this implemented everywhere. Especially in the quick reply, but also in the regular compose view. It's tough to read anything because you only see the last line due to the keyboard auto popping up.

I hate my favorites being covered up! Please do not auto activate the keyboard and allow the text message area to auto adjust to the amount of favorites available
