Microphone icon triggers text to speech not voice recording
You could also make it an option in settings to choose

would love it to launch (voice to text) immediately rather than having to open keyboard to touch microphone. no one uses voce notes.

Assuming you mean speech to text, this is what I want when I touch that icon. Yes I can go through extra steps and get that via the keyboard. But good software is all about cutting down on extra steps and unwanted results. I NEVER want to send a recording of my voice.

I would love to see the talk to text option!

I would love an option to change the microphone to voice texting. It is the only thing this app is missing IMHO. I don't know anyone that uses voice notes.

Text to speech is on your keyboard dummys.

This isn't the fault of the app. You have to use the microphone button that is built into the keyboard. I use SwiftKey and long-hold the mic icon until it starts. Short-hold is a comma.

Am I to understand that you can't just hit the microphone button and have it convert what is spoken to text? I have tried and tried to get this working just figuring this is such a basic function in other apps. Maybe this is why I couldn't get it to work.

This is an ongoing issue on my S5 and is frustrating enough I will likely move on to another app until fixed.

I stopped using Textra because of the lack of this basic option.

Or other speech apps. Give us an option in the settings to change what the voice icon is used for.
