Use custom notification sounds from Contacts app
Rather than having to redefine custom notification sounds for each person in the Textra app (after getting an initial message from them), use the custom notification sounds defined in the native contacts app.

Agree with this, annoying having to change it per contact again, and groups have to be unique also which makes no sense.

As I remember, it worked before. I could change the sound for sender that I could not add to contact. E.g. Info from operator, Bank etc

When can we expect to see this? I love the app, but cannot use it due to the feature not being available.

That would be helpful indeed. So far you guys are about the only app where individual contacts can be assigned their own sound if phone doesn't support it.

so necessary. I have a group of contacts that are specific for work requests and I would like to be able to set the group with a specific notification but don't want to have to wait until each person texts me

I did not know Textra would not recognize the custom notification sounds I created for my contacts. Frustrating!

I agree 100%. It would be great to assign certain tones & vibration patterns to each contact.
