Priority Contacts or VIPs are contacts that remain on the top of the list regardless of when they were last contacted. A simple customization for individual contacts.

I too would like the functionality of being able to mark a thread as high priority or low priority current or archived

This would be fantastic! I love this feature in the native app on the Note 4. especially because favorites for calling are vastly different from my texting ones.
