Add Attachment
Add a nice paper clip to the top of a message to easily add an attachment to the message.

How do you add a document? No where can you find anything for .jpg etc..... Picures, emojies, gif..... All work fine.

Very easy. Touch the + sign, touch the picture icon in the bottom panel, select the picture! Done!

Su, you obviously don't realize most people are having trouble with Textra no longer working that way. The + sign now only brings up several stupid emoji options. There is no longer the great menu for adding images or camera shots, so you can NOT attach files any longer. This is a legitimate complaint as they have essentially ruined the best texting program.

Dear Lord, people. Read the comments. Any comments. There is absolutely a way to attach photos. It's the + plus sign that everyone keeps going on about. I came here because I am having a legitimate issue with the app not acting the way it normally does. It would be nice if every other comment clogging up this thread wasn't "Can't attach? How dumb!" Sheesh, people. So, does anyone know why Textra would suddenly *stop* allowing me to attach photos? The + symbol becomes the × symbol, like normal, but instead of the keyboard hiding (giving way to the camera/photo selection panel), nothing happens. I am still staring at the keyboard. I have not changed any settings. It worked fine yesterday. Very odd.

+ sign works great, but I also would not have figured it out without going to this website. Should be easier.

Thank you for the tip. I would have never figured out to hit the + sign.

Finally found help how to attach picture and other attachments from textra.
Like others have said "The only way I can use the + sign is to physically turn my phone sideways first. Otherwise the + sign is inactive."
The problem was with my android phone settings.
Go to main settings > Display > Home touch buttons > Hide Home touch buttons : find Textra in the list and set to OFF. Some of the menu names may be a little different but it wasn't difficult to find once I knew what to look for. Now when you hit the + sign the proper attachment buttons should appear.

The only way I can use the + sign is to physically turn my phone sideways first. Otherwise the + sign is inactive. This should embarrass Textra and be something it fixes immediately. As it stands, this flaw is a deal breaker.

Thanks that's so simple

Why in the hell should I be expected to know that a plus sign should be used to attach a file to a textra text message? It is not intuitive for the general population, it is not a convention that is commonly used by the rest of the app development community, and there is no instruction or guidance from Textra to indicate that the hidden option is available. This is the millionth comment posted about this subject, so why has Textra chosen to ignore this very very simple fix? If Textra is not bright enough to implement the fix, then Textra should call a consultant - ANY consultant- and hire that consultant to fix the problem for them. It is simple, and doesn't require a consultant with highly developed skills. Just more skills than what Textra has on their staff. Or, is there some other aspect that is preventing them from doing what the rest of the world is doing?

Incredible! No way to attach a file. Deal breaker. This should be mentioned in the glowing reviews for this app. Too bad, I really liked the app

Ok. So the Textra SMS Team emailed this to me and it worked. Please try it and see if it works for you.
He explained that the auto hide home button could be the culprit, which in my case, it was.
General Settings > Display > Navigation Bar > Tap the show & hide Home button words > scroll down to Textra > turn OFF

I don't currently see the option to attach a pic. When I push the plus sign it only shows emojis, with no other options.

And this is why I use Android messages

I press the + sign, yet there is no photo (icon) option. How is something attached? This should be stupid simple.

Use the + button to the left of the text window then choose the photo icon from the options at the bottom of the + popup

How can you not have a way to attach? Crazy

Why would you not include a paper clip for attachments? How does that make more sense than adding a paperclip for attachments? Do you need to ask someone how to do that?
