I'd like to not be automatically taken to the a new message if my scroll position is high enough. I might be looking through a thread to find an old message (that I couldn't find using the search function) and be 200 messages back. If that person sends me a message right then though, I'm taken back to the newest message and have to start the search all over again. It's then like a race to see if they will send me another message first or if I'll find the one i was looking for first. That was one of the things I hated about iOS when I had an iPhone.
