Italics and bold text capability

Would it be possible to add the ability to create italics and bold text in messages, perhaps using markdown syntax? It would allow you to express yourself more accurately and subtly than just being limited to SHOUTING in all caps.

    Definitely use markdown. It's by far the most widely used formatting syntax on the internet
