Notifications from stock app / double notifications

According to the Android documentation that's not supposed to occur, but it does!

Please go to the settings page in your Android Stock / System messaging app and turn off the notifications.

Also check in General Settings > Sound and notification > App notifications > please turn off notifications for your Android Stock / System messaging app.
