Better MMS implementation for users who turn mobile data off
This has been my one big issue with Textra. The way it handles MMS messages when people, like me, have mobile data turned off.
The way of showing 'MMS Failed' notification, then having to retry doesn't work all the time.
There needs to be some sort of message, like a download button, that allows you to retry an attempt to download the MMS. Other messaging apps show a download button and can retrieve the MMS in a few seconds. With Textra, I can either get it immediatel, within minutes, or as it happens now, never.
Also, there is no need for the 'Check APN settings' notification anymore since we can not adjust any APN settings with the recent update.

I am also having this issue on Android 9.0 on a Pixel 3. Although I am a Textra Pro user, I'm going to have to fallback to the default Android messaging app as I always have my data shut off. I use WiFi exclusively on Google Fi.
Its not acceptable that Textra has NOT addressed and fixed this issue in many years. -

I have tested this and I see there is an issue with Textra
Swapped to Google Messages and made default app, had someone send me a picture while my mobile data was off, once I got the notification - There was a download button. Turned on data and was able to download the pictureThen, I turned Textra into my default app. Turned off data, had them send another picture... and well, It took around 10 minutes to get the 'failed mms' message and when I turned mobile data on and tried to retry the mms, I was not able to receive it.
Clearly, there is an issue on how Textra handles MMS and I know of 'the bad code' from Android 7.0 but if other messengers can get the picture WITH a download button, then Textra should be able to do the same
