Agreed, avatars next to messages (at least the first one in a stream of messages from the same user) would be great--as an option of course.

Also, Ad Fundum, if you can get ChompSMS to do group MMS correctly, then I'd agree with you.

This would be an awesome feature for group messaging as mentioned earlier. It makes it easier to follow who is texting and I find that it flows well with the material theme of the app.

I personally don't like the avatars all over the place. wish I could remove them from the conversation list as well.

This is an absolute must have for group messaging. Hangouts does it reasonably well and looks great. Would be easy to implement as well, as it already shows the name.

this is a good idea for group chats but I'm not so sure about one to one messaging, smaller phones won't have the real estate of the galaxy s4's and note 3's (for example)

Hagnouts was able to do this while retaining a slim and clean look.

To be honest, this counters the slim look of Textra ... If you want this, you might be better of with ChompSMS (of the same developers)
