    I do not want Textra to become too heavy and bloated like some other messaging apps, but I hope this is implemented soon! I believe the ability to archive a lot of old threads might even help improve performance.

    When a new message is received in an archived conversation, it should be automatically moved back to the inbox view if notifications are not muted so you can communicate on it, and then when you are done you can archive it till you need it again.

    I agree, this is much needed, especially when I accidentally mark a message as read.

    An alternative could be to be able to star message threads that you want to mark as favorite or save for later.
