Archive Messages
Rather than just permanently delete messages, it would be fantastic if you could archive messages. This was one of the features in Google Hangouts that I used the most and found incredibly helpful.
Sometimes you want to clean up your inbox so you don't have hundreds of conversations floating around in it that you have to scroll through, but you don't necessarily want to lose some conversations forever by deleting them. The ability to Archive conversations in order to move them out of the main inbox view and into a separate archive view for later reference or search would be perfect here, and I believe would appeal to many users.
See the Google Hangouts app for more details on how this could and should work. Would love to see it in Textra! It would make it truly stand apart from the competition!

This is a great feature that is missing from Textra. I am currently considering switching back to hangouts for this feature alone.

Instead of archiving messages can developers work on saving conversations directly to the sd card? This will elliminate the issue of textra not having a cloud-based service.

I am extremely happy with Textra, with the exception of a few bugs early on the product has been top notch. However I really need the ability to archive my conversations. The fact that I am unable to archive, makes may feel I need to find an app with the capability even though Textra meets my needs in all other ways.

Would also love this. I have work-related threads that I need to keep but don't necessarily need cluttering my conversation list/inbox all the time.

i would love this too! it's nice to be able to archive message that you dont want in your inbox but dont really want to get rid of.

I'd love to at least be able to archive my conversations to my gmail account, that way, If I ever change phones, I'd like to keep my conversations going. Being able to keep that is what I liked about hangouts.

All this really needs to do is mark some conversations as "hidden" so they don't show up in my main conversation list. I hate having so many conversations in my main list...

This is not a practical feature request.
Google Hangouts & Messenger are cloud based, that's how they archive.

I would love to be able to archive messages. I don't like deleting messages from certain threads and would like to reference past conversations.
