SMS Backup Option - Export + Import Abilities
There is a Knowledge Base article that recommends using other apps to do this. I've tried them and they have not been very reliable or visually pleasing.
I'd love the ability to backup my texts within Textra or export a text file or .html file out that is easy to read and follow along.
Google Drive/Dropbox support would be awesome.
Decipher tools makes a program for IOS that exports texts+mms to html files that keep all the photos within their order. This is great if you go back and are looking for a thread or photo because you can control +F and search or just scroll through the images.
The ability to export and import if you switch devices would also be appreciated.
Thank you as always!
Apologies but there are many SMS Backup apps that do a great job. We want to focus on core features in Textra. We recommend SMS Backup & Restore to do this task.

This is a Really Great Idea ! I get that you guys are working on other things to make this app perfect , but to me , personally , it already is . All that is missing is me being able to backup and restore my msgs . It's sad going from one phone to the next without all your text msgs .

Hey Admin. Are you mad? All SMS apps have this basic option and it will give more functionality and ease to users. And you are just recommending another app instead of making your own app better and feature rich which can capture more users. How shameful, its a very basic feature in modern SMS apps.

I have lost important messagea suddenly two days back. Ca I archieve them back ? If yes ,How ?
I think that messages may be lost because of certain no set for total message storage. Is it set by default or wr an set it.

The problem with all the SMS backup apps (including your recommendation) is they backup/restore the default stock Messages storage. Sure, Textra (kinda) syncs with that. But when discrepancies occur between the two, much can be lost (it's happened to me twice).
And Textra does not offer an option to export its database into the stock database. If stock gets lost or corrupted, no SMS backup/restore app can help at that point.
If there's not going to be an option added to import/export the Textra database, at least provide an option to export to the stock database.

I am trying to use SMS Backup & Restore to clear text messages from textra. I have nearly a gigabyte of texts and it is not working. I really need the ability to delete or archive "old" texts from within Textra. Resetting my phone bc textra can't seem to do this is ridiculous.

As someone who changes ROMs quite quite frequently, an internal backup system seems obligatory. Sure, third party apps work, but the less hassle the better. Other SMS apps have this option. I see no reason why Textra shouldn't have.

Please add the ability to retroactively copy the textra database to the stock database.

I used MyBackUp Pro for years, seems to work flawlessly with Samsung. Backup and restore all messages in order, with MMS. But since moving from Sammy to LG I had a really hard time transferring my messages. Tried various apps, multiple times to get my messages over. But it still didn't transfer all & pictures not in order with it

That's the only reason i left Textra away because stock Sms are easily recoverable with Titanium Backup instead of Textra that just lag because of the big database added again by Titanium Backup which le about 700MB in my case~
