notification sound in conversations

I know Textra "intentionally" disabled sounds while a conversation is open, but I would like this to be an actual option. I'm not always staring at the screen and I don't always exit from the app/convo. Unless I'm watching the phone I can never tell when someone responds (while convo is open). Just make it an OPTION!

    Since this isn't an option i've missed text messages. Cause I can be typing, then send, set the phone down and then they text me back.

    MAKE THIS AN OPTION.

    I actually enjoy no notification when your in the chat, but it should be an option.

    I really want this... I really need this n I would love it if we could customize it. Like custom ring tones in an open conversation or thread..

    Consider giving a 1 star rating on Play to get their attention to finally fix this simple bug.

    This is my #1 gripe with Textra, and a big enough issue that I'm just about ready to dump it. Seems pretty ridiculous that if I put my phone to sleep with an open conversation, it won't alert me when a new message comes in. I wouldn't even mind a notification to a conversation I'm actively typing in.

    This is a must. So sick of not knowing someone replied until I look at my phone an hour later. Such a simple fix...make it happen textra.

    Could't agree more with this thread...
    I miss so many replies bc I dont hear anything.
    Is there a texting app that has this option... may think of switching.

    With textra the screen wouldn't intentionally stay open waiting for a reply, when you leave the conversation on accidentally messages are missed.

    Perhaps a less sharp sound specifically for this? Recognisable by textra users?

    Almost two years since this thread was started and the sound notification is still missing. Developers with a god complex, seems to be the norm.

    Not sure why this is so hard...samsung galaxy S4 had this on their STOCK app... When I'm in a GROUP message & put phone down, it would be nice to know WHO answered by custom notification sound!!-

    Maybe a small vibration like on Facebook messenger? Or a little sound like the iPhone?

    This is the only thing keeping me from LOVING and recommending this to all my friends! I miss so many messages because I don't close out of the message every time.
