    I'd like to propose another option for users on Android forks like Oxygen OS that have poor quality MMS compression..

    What about an add-on that enables the Legacy/custom MMS Behavior options? It would not be part of the Play Store APK, so would not violate any policies, but could be linked in the app description for the end-user to easily find and install as needed.

    Lawnchair Launcher does something similar with their Lawnfeed add-on: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ch.deletescape.lawnchair.plah

    Thanks for your consideration, I'd really like to work with you to find a workaround and restore this feature in some way.
