Wifi texting
The ability to send/receive texts over a wifi would be a great addition to this application. Sometimes cell signal is just not available.
WiFi texting (SMS or MMS) is down to your carrier (if they support it or not) and also down to your Android device and version. It’s not a Textra feature or anything we can or cannot do.
It’ll either work or it won’t. Irrespective of what SMS/MMS app you use.

I went from using a Galaxy10, which I had no problem sending texts over WiFi, now I have a Galaxy 23+ and I can no longer text over WiFi. My carrier didn't change, version didn't change. Just have a newer phone

Hi, I am having an issue sending MMS with Textra while on wi-fi (with wi-fi calling on). Att as service. S21 Ultra running android 12. Xfinity internet
Android Messeges sends MMS perfectly fine as well as FB Messenger. Textra sends MMS fine while on cell service (which we don't have at the house). I have done all the troulbeshooting steps in the articles below.

What if Textra used to work perfectly with wifi but now (since Textra's March update) the number of failed to send messages has gotten bad.

Google will not allow it! In order for the AI to take over the world she wants access to all messages via the networks. We are doomed! 🙈🙉🙊😜

So if the carrier and device support not, his does Textra make it happen?

I'd like to comment I'm specifically looking for another texting app because Google messages now keeps trying to enable that stupid RCS that eats away at my data plan. Please do not enable RCS, I get unlimited texts but have to pay for data, and data is also super congested here meaning RCS messages often won't even send when normal SMS and MMS do send.

Does textra offer end-to-end encryption in the text messaging app?

I have a Samsung s8 and I keep losing the gif bar. I restart the phone and it's there only for a short time afterward.

Texting over wifi is not an app feature, it is a carrier feature. If your carrier supports "wifi calling", and your phone supports that feature, texting over wifi works, both SMS and MMS messages.

Wait, just to be clear. At&t supports wifi texting. So does that mean that textra will automatically support it as well or does there have to be a special update for that?

As long as the carrier supports it, Textra's no different. @Max close this idea!

Just want to add that Textra works beautifully with WiFi Calling /Texting on T-Mobile. Zero issues! I'm 60' below the earth connected to WiFi, Textra and T-Mobile. Working great!!!

WiFi texting has been supported for ages. However, it's a carrier-dependent feature.
