An error occurred while saving the comment Michael commentedThis isn't possible for SMS. RCS support will come eventually, so this should be closed since there is a suggestion for RCS already

An error occurred while saving the comment Michael commentedJust use something like Light Manager or Light Flow. Similar to how they're not going to develop SMS backup, this too would be a waste of their time.

We wish we could! Google are the only ones that can do RCS at the moment. Until they provide the RCS interfaces on Android for everyone.
An error occurred while saving the comment Michael commentedAlong the same idea as this - for those contacts that are Advanced Messaging enabled (and so video calling is also likely an option) just add an icon to the contact screen to do an immediate video call. Shouldn't be too terribly difficult to do.
For behavior to emulate, just look at the Google Contacts app: there are buttons for video call and message, so in the case of Textra, just normal call and video call.

An error occurred while saving the comment Michael commentedI wanted to be able to add someone earlier today, actually, but after thinking about it I don't think it's something that would ever be implemented. If you added someone, it'd be a different thread, and the other people you were group chatting with would have *another* group chat in their SMS/MMS app. I just don't see it happening, but I s'pose it'd be cool to be wrong!

An error occurred while saving the comment Michael commentedI have unlimited SMS/MMS, but it would still be great to see this implemented so that message splitting doesn't have to happen. I actually wish everything could be MMS (without needing to attach a picture or something for example)
