Contact side bar.
I really like your app but for years I have been using the Hello SMS app because it has a side bar at the left for recent contacts. I would like to see this feature in Textra.

expiring self destruct mms and text messages
Textra is the best, but it will be better if it had a feature like what's app. Sending a message to people with expiring date and time would be ideal. if I send a pic to someone I want it erased within a certain time limit and day.

Create a task from the SMS
From a SMS, create a task to be processed later. The task would have these properties:
Job title: SMS + sender name
Description: the SMS text and it's date / time
Category: let the user choose in his costumed categories (used in his calendar or Google tasks app)This would be great, because Textra does not really manage a status like "treat" / "done"

I love the theming options on this app! Please update the status bar appearance to be the same color as the top of the app (as in new material design apps from Google).

Android Messages has a feature called Messages for Web that is really good. It allows you to see your messages on your computer and interact with them.

Delete ALMOST everything
Is it possible to have a 'select all' feature inside the thread, so that you can uncheck / lock some messages and delete everything else in one swoop from inside the thread?

slide to delete thread needs option
Please Add an option to disable/enable the sliding menu for the message thread.
I'm afraid of accidentally sliding on the thread and deleting an thread; or deleting an thread by accident while talking on the phone (face cheeks tend to press buttons while I talk on the phone).If you can add that option, this app becomes the best for messaging. Otherwise, i can't fully trust it.

Undo Sent Message If Sent Accidently
Dear Textra Team,
Hi there I love using your app I have a amazing idea which I really do hope is added to the next version of the app. My idea is for a command where if the user accidentally sends a message and let's say they want to undo this or change what they originally sent and resend the message that would be awesome and I really do think this would help improve the app in many ways and might even get more fans.

Web messaging.
A simple yet fast way to respond from a laptop or tablet. Native Google messages is perfect. Something like that would keep me on textra.

Have an arrow or icon to show who was the last one to send a message, either me or the recipient(s).

3.99 and still no backgrounds?
I'll happily pay. it's a good ap. but 3.99 with no ability to change backgrounds isnt that great tbh. also. Samsung let's you have a mark as read option on the quick reply. textra is missing those 2 features to be considered better than the default Samsung ap. which is free on any android device...

Able to Chat while phone is locked
I think it would be really cool if you added a feature where you could text people back even if you hadn't unlocked your phone. I've always wanted to do that with an Android

when sharing media to Textra use RECENT contacts, NOT favorites.
It's insane that I have to search through contacts to share media. And unless you have renamed a group with something you can remember it's nearly impossible to share something to a certain group of people or a specific message thread you have already

Set Favorites by Phone Number not Name
I would like to set Favorites (as dictated by phone via Google 🌟) by the PHONE # and not contact name.
e.g. Kate is a contact and a favorite. I type 'Kate' in my compose to: and Kate Work, Kate Home, Kate Mobile pop up (as well as other Kates). Since Kate Mobile is the only one I ever text and is defined as the contact's default, I would hope that it would 1. be first in the list and 2. be the only # that shows up (as setup by me per a Textra setting). TIA.

Group text message received as individual text by recipient
I used to see in BB10 the ability to select multiple contacts for a text message, but before pressing send, having the opportunity to check a box allowing the sender to have the recipients receive the message as single text, rather than group. It was a great way for the sender to send the same message to various people as individuals with one send.

better recognizing of 2 or more people
you need to consider implementing colour separation to easily identify whether you are replying to a single text message or a text message that has 2 or more people in it.
That way you can send a message to 1 person instead of accidentally send to a previous conversation that has 2 or more people......2 votes
