Copying individual words/sentances from text messages
Hi, would love the ability to hold down and highlight specific words, phone numbers, etc from inbound text messages.
At present, holding down on a word (which elsewhere in Android and on apple devices will highlight that word and allow users to drag the box to highlight specific words/numbers) results in the whole message being highlighted and to copy just a single part, the whole thing has to be copied, pasted, and then highlighted in the needed words.
Hopefully this default action can be added9 votes -
archive and category
I LOVE this app but it would be nice to add archive and also message categories. I run a business and on my other app I can organize messages into categories I can create like personal and colleges and associates etc. whatever I want. also a pass code would be cool too

Option for "immediate" popup (instead of notification, shade, tap) for incoming messages.
Currently, I see that Textra's mechanism of pop up incoming messages is to relegate them to a notification in the top bar, requiring you to "pull the shade down" and tap the notification to read/reply.
Is there a way to configure it so that, upon receipt of an incoming text message/SMS, a popup simply appears on your screen with the option to reply, close, mark unread, whatever, etc?
I believe that VZW messages and, perhaps, Chomp utilize this style. I also believe that this particular issue is the reason I started using Chomp over Textra, but I'd ultimately like to migrate back to Textra, and particularly if that feature/option could be added.
Perhaps the ability to select either the quick popup being as it is or the "more immediate" style I suggest.
Thank you!

Background Images on Messages
Basically the title, samsung has it on the default messages app. Where essentially you either choose a photo from the gallery or you choose a solid color. With your color wheel on this app it'd be 1000 times better than messages.

Wi-Fi Compatible
Can y'all somehow make Textra work with Wi-Fi instead of it being stuck on cellular data only or is that too much work for now?

pin to the bottom
the ability to pin important messages to the top is great. It would be also nice to be able to diminish very unimportant messages that do not need to be trashed but also aren't looked for very often. So if you was the ability to pin messages to the bottom of the list, I believe many people would find that useful.

Add notification setting for text messages from short codes (Nuisance control)
The setting to change the notification behaviour for unknown contacts is great, however now messages from short codes (banks, UPS/USPS etc) also are impacted by that setting. It would be great if another similar setting could be added for those.

No way google in Feb 2023 update
Just updated to the latest version on 2/20/2023. I recall seeing something about google integration, and lo and behold!!!: NOW I HAVE TO REMAINED LOGGED INTO GOOGLE FOR THIS TO WORK, OTHERWISE TEXTRA LAUNCHES GOOGLE PLAY STORE STORE TO FORCE LOG IN! This is a deal breaker, Textra just crashed from a 5 star rating to 0. I do not want to be part of the google ecosystem & have gone out of my way to avoid their apps due to privacy concerns. Should have left well enough alone, now it's broken!

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic
In the description of the app in Play Store it claims to work with Android Wear. I have a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic and it is not compatible, nor are there any settings for it in the app. In fact, there is no mention of it anywhere other than the description in the Play Store. There are very few choices for messaging with the Wear OS and I would love to be able to use it as I have been a Premium member of Textra for years and think it is by far the best messaging app out there. I would even be willing to pay another couple of bucks to have it.
PLEASE ADD THIS FUNCTION!!!!
