    Hopefully, Google will drop the API soon, but Google loves to drag their feet.

    Google's sandbox should be used instead of some stupid carrier bull for consistency. Hopefully this will be too priority once Google gets off it's ass and allows 3rd party implementation

    This would require a service to be created, like iMessages is a service. Technically RCS could serve that, however, this is dependent on Google dropping the API available to do so. As of now Google has not.

    Personally adding support for the signal protocol for Textra to Textra users to add a huge layer of security would be great as RCS is not e2ee encrypted. Once again this would add a service that would need to be maintained.

    I think using the signal protocol, falling back to RCS, then standard SMS.
