   I found myself with these exact symptoms. What I found was that I accidentally had the conversation with my wife blacklisted... Sorry honey. Under settings at the bottom you can select the user and un-blacklist it.

   I started having this same issue on Note 5 Verizon. Usually with photo's. I have to go in and delete the pictures from the chat to stop it.
