camera options are non existing
I'm not seeing any options for the camera. No pinch zoom, flash, or anything. When you turn your phone for a larger view it shuts off the camera and you have to start again. And how about an option to see if the recipient has actually read your text not just received it.

Add Per Contact Settings option to the conversation screen
Right now, the only way to access Per Contact Settings is by long-pressing on a conversation. The instinctive place to look is inside in the menu once inside of a conversation. Currently, clicking the contact's display picture in the top-right shows a contact card and a Call button. I think this would be the perfect, and once again most intuitive, place to add access to Per Contact Settings.

I'd love to see a feature like the Giphy integration, but for still images!
That way I wouldn't have to open Chrome, download a photo, then share via Textra.

dialing overlay that pops up when clicking on the contact at the top of the mail messaging window dial button should be green not red
Green means dial, Red means hang up imho

identification of new sms in a thread is not possible after i clear them from notifications bar
Use a marker to show that a particular thread has received a new message even after i clear them from the notifications bar

1,200 on MMS
Verizon in the USA seems to have a 1,200 kb size limit. Can the options be adjusted to have more size options or even just enter a number?

I'd like to get notifications on my Gear S using Gear S Notification Extender app.
I can get Textra notifications through the Gear Manager app but Gear S Notification Extender is so much better to use when you want to reply to or delete things. I used another text app for a while but prefer Textra over it and its only short coming for me is what I wrote above.

app opens to new message
When you get a new message and you then open the app, the conversation that opens is the one with a new message.

be able to hide contact icons completely!
I have so many contacts without photos and I think the letters are kind of ugly and I wish like under settings there was an option to just not show icons it would look so much more appealing!! chompSMS has it!

how about random pictures
you have It set up to randomly show some pictures u set so if u don't want nobody to know who it is u add a category Of pictures and they pop up randomly.

Option for independant header and FAB colors
For example, blue header and red FAB (floating action button). In my opinion these color schemes are more appealing than just one theme color.

Add to People
Default messaging on HTC One allows a new number text to be added to People (contacts). That would a great feature here - allow a new number to create a contact entry.

Show an update page after new updates when textra is opened after an update
Show details about the update when textra is first opened after an update.

add possibility to use pictures as background for conversations. (perfectly would be a setting for changing it global and for single chats)
Maybe also integrated in the local album app you can choose either from this or in a Textra menu which picture you want to use for which chat or if you want to use one picture globally for all conversations.

its been having issues sending pictures all a sudden and it would be nice to send multiple pics in one message rather than individually
Would be nice to be able to send multiple pics in one message like the stock message app rather than individually. Also would love to be able to receive messages as one whole message rather than them being split

The ability to send text messages at specific times of the day in the future
Example: Want to send a friend a happy birthday text but it won't be for another few hours. Schedule a specific time to send that text

MMS, SMS, etc
Saving MMS as the filename sent with the proper EXIF data. For me, it always gets renamed numbers and deletes the info. Also, if we could pick the folder(s) to save in.
Sending location with a map or url to a map that works for both Android and iOS.
Privacy box. Even a hide/unhide with gesture or special number to dial might work.
Option to convert SMS into MMS instead of split.
