backup sms or extract in .txt for exemple to save our important favorite sms contact for memories or re-import (backup)

Textra Plug-in for Gear Watch
It would be great if you built a plug-in that allowed Gear Watch users to send text messages or quick messages from their watches. Currently only the stock Samsung messages does this.

Customized Conversation Colors that Modify Auto-Color Header
Currently, when you customize individual conversation bubble colors (and have auto-coloring for contacts enabled in the app settings), the change only apply to the bubbles and not the header at the top of the conversation (which remains the auto-colored color). would love to be able to bypass the auto-color function when customizing individual conversations.

Full resolution images and video
One of the biggest shortcomings of Android messaging applications is that we can't send full sized images or videos via text. You have to go to FB Messenger or find an alternative just to send media. It would be great to incorporate rich messaging so we can send and receive media and messages over wifi and not be so reliant on our spotty cell coverage.

Grouping messages from contacts that change received from number
I constantly receive messages from the same set of contexts but the source message number changes. these are usually email or security notifications. We should be able to group messaged into the same thread if it starts with the same text.

lock screen quick reply
Have the option to quick reply to your messages or certain messages on the lock screen. I can also suggest requiring a pin on the app for security

ambient screen + oreo
for waking the screen, on phones such as the pixel, there is an ambient wake screen. I think being able to do that would be very nice. also there are already quick replies in notifications so it's easier to reply than having the pop-up messenger.

Choose which images are automatically downloaded
Choose file types that are affected by the Auto Save feature. For example, download most pictures automatically but not .gif images.

Stacked Notifications Revisited
Now with Android's "always on" display it might be a good time to revisit how many messages trigger stacked notifications.
The space on the always on display to show notifications is very limited and multiple notifications from Textra fill the space up quickly, disallowing other important notifications their needed space. I personally would like Textra notifications to always stack but realize others feel differently. Because of this it'd be nice to ultimately have an option whether to stack all notifications or keep the current option of stacking notifications when more than three exist. (Or maybe even allow the user to…
