better integration with maps to send location?
I don't know how difficult it would be but two things where Google messages really shine is RCS and sending your location
I understand that RCS is difficult but how difficult would it be to have a feature to allow someone to have live location access or to send your live location to someone?

Tabs to Separate Contacts from Non-Contacts
With Spam texts becoming more and more frequent, it'd be nice to have a tab where I can view friends and not have spam texts filling up that space. Even deleting them barely makes a difference because they're so frequent.
So ideally there are 2 tabs, where the first shows messages from people in your contact list (and any group chats where you have at least one member in your contact list), and the second is everything else.

I want to be able to block or filter messages that have certain keywords in them that I specify, such as a politician's name.

Filter for Unread Messages
I don't know if I'm just overlooking it, but it would be great if I could filter for just the messages I haven't opened yet (ie. see unread messages only).

text to email
Every other app allows you to send a quick text message to an email address as an sms. If you send a message of any size to gmail, it automatically covers it to an MMS, making reading the email a pain. This is completely unnecessary. Just keep it as an SMS message.

Ad pop up.
I'm not sure if this is useful or effective, but maybe have the ad litterally at the bottom of chat like when you have to scroll all the way down to the last message

Pin Frequently Used Emojis
Rather than have a rotating list of frequently used emojis, please consider the ability to 'pin' your favorite emojis to that box too.

RECENT PHOTOS
The ability to remove some of the "recent" photos and send them back to their folders instead of them showing every time. I send the same photos all day for work stuff but all my personal pics get in the way!
