Archive Messages
Rather than just permanently delete messages, it would be fantastic if you could archive messages. This was one of the features in Google Hangouts that I used the most and found incredibly helpful.
Sometimes you want to clean up your inbox so you don't have hundreds of conversations floating around in it that you have to scroll through, but you don't necessarily want to lose some conversations forever by deleting them. The ability to Archive conversations in order to move them out of the main inbox view and into a separate archive view for later reference or search would be perfect here, and I believe would appeal to many users.
See the Google Hangouts app for more details on how this could and should work. Would love to see it in Textra! It would make it truly stand apart from the competition!

I would really appreciate this ability in Textra.

There needs to be a mechanism to convert text messages to another format for permanent record keeping purposes. Critical shortcoming of an app I really like.

I really really really want to use Textra - I even paid for it. But I just can't without this feature. Messenger, pulse, and other apps do this easily. Please add.

Hello dear Textra developers. I Don't know if this is a right place to present this problem. But excuse me if am in a wrong place pls help me to take this mesaage to where it belongs.
Let me start from here. I like this Text message app(TEXTRA) so much, its very nice and enjoyable to use and am very conviced to use it with my friends. But the problem is, it doesn't receive messages. If a text message is sent to my phone while screen is off or while phone is idle, then i will not get that mesaage as the current default message app is set to Textra. Meanwhile on the other side the sender of that mesage gets a delivery report.
I can only receive sent message while textra app is open. But after exit the app even if someone sends me a text, i get no message and even if i try to open an app again i can't see any received message at that time. No even a notification sound.
Please help if u can find a solution for this, i like your app so much but that is what makes me give up from it.
This problem has happened even to my friends here they cannot use app because of that. We expect good answer. The phone i'm using is TECNO POUVOIR 2. And even most of my friends are using TECNO SMART PHONES. Thanx in advance. -

This would definitely be my everyday message app if I was able to archive. The fact that you just have to delete messages if you don't want to see them anymore doesn't really work when all the other messaging apps allow you to archive.
Will check out this app again if they ever add archiving.

What the actual sh**. How has it been so long and they still didn't add the "Archive" feature.
Not buying this app until they do it. -

I think I'm finally leaving this app for Messages even after paying for it. This is such a common feature, and it was requested 5 years ago!

I am just about finished getting everything set up and customized so I can make the switch to Textra. However, the lack of ability to archive message threads is a serious deficit for this otherwise great app. I really hope I haven't wasted hours on all of this. I need archive functionality or the ability to cluster messages together, maybe in folders or with tags. I hope the developer responds with a meaningful answer to let users know if this function will ever be addressed/added.

I am deleting this app because there is no archive support. I have been a pro user for years, but I miss responding to some messages because they get buried

I love the app, but hate that you can't archive messages. Has this really been a feature request for years, with no change? :(

Archive is a must, when you receive x amount of text messages it is too easy to forget about following up on that text message you received while doing something else. Especially when you received 10 others right after.

I need to delete my earlier msgs and leave msgs for the past year and 1/2. I have msgs going back to 2015. How can I do this as a mass option, without having to delete thousands of msgs individually? Thanks

I don't see why this feature can't be implemented. In fact the lack of it is tempting me to replace Textra with another SMS client which I don't wish to do.

I really really really want to use Textra - I even paid for it. But I just can't without this feature. Messenger, pulse, and other apps do this easily, so maybe I don't understand something. It's now a common refrain from my friends, too.

This is literally the one thing that stopped me from using it as my everyday messaging app. Everything else about it is so clean and user-friendly. I just don't have a need to see all my messages every time I load the app. I don't want them deleted, just archived away.

Not sure how textra does everything but no simple archive feature. I don't want everyone I've ever texted to be on my main screen. Is this feature ever coming?

It's silly but this is legitimately the one thing making it difficult for me to switch from Messages permanently. So simple to archive stuff in Messages.
