Better MMS implementation for users who turn mobile data off
This has been my one big issue with Textra. The way it handles MMS messages when people, like me, have mobile data turned off.
The way of showing 'MMS Failed' notification, then having to retry doesn't work all the time.
There needs to be some sort of message, like a download button, that allows you to retry an attempt to download the MMS. Other messaging apps show a download button and can retrieve the MMS in a few seconds. With Textra, I can either get it immediatel, within minutes, or as it happens now, never.
Also, there is no need for the 'Check APN settings' notification anymore since we can not adjust any APN settings with the recent update.This has been my one big issue with Textra. The way it handles MMS messages when people, like me, have mobile data turned off.

Typing Indicator
If it is possible, could you create a typing indicator of contacts feature to this app? It would make it far more exceptional than all the other types of messaging apps. This way whoever uses the Textra app can see when their contact is typing back.

Automatic Response
It will be great if we could schedule an automatic message response in specific hours, days or moments... That way, all messages will be response with our message without to read them.

Add in iOS texting features
Features like the ability to like a message or picture and whatnot. For instance if someone sends you a message, you can react to it and have it send a message back saying: Loved "(Insert message here)"

aloha! I'd like to suggest that users can customize the width of text bubbles on the screen.
I'd like to maximize the text with a slight indentation to the left of send bubbles, rather than the default width. (and right side for receiving bubbles obviously)
when using pop up messages, the text box is VERY narrow for my 5 inch screen.16 votes -
Widen out text speech bubbles
please widen out the text speech bubbles so they're not so narrow and the text doesn't seem so long and take up so much vertical space. The speech bubble should fit the entire screen from left to right so you can have more characters speech bubble not the few that is allowed. the speech bubbles kind of look like a cartoon with the short little lines. thanks a lot. Great app.

Expand color options and labeling for colorblind
Have a great range of color customization options but including some more less common colors (i.e. Gold, silver, copper).
As someone whom is colorblind finding a specific color can be difficult, being able to long press on a color and get that color's name would help immensely.

Updating the layout
changing the + layout to something more compact, organized, and smooth. Android messages uses bigger boxes that are stacked which looks a lot better. Textra would look less cluttered if it were setup in a similar manner

How can we know if our message has been read or at least opened, and at what time?

Add option to view only conversations with unread messages
The menu on the conversations list offers four options: Settings, Mark All as Read, Tell your Friends, and What's New. It would be nice to add an option for "Unread only" to show only those conversations with unread messages.
When this option is selected, only conversations with unread messages (those spam messages you haven't deleted yet, the texts you forgot to deal with, etc.) would be shown.
Perhaps at the top, where it says "Textra", it could change to "Textra - Unread Only" (and maybe even, it it's possible, tapping that would switch back to all conversations. Otherwise, from the menu.)

coloured notification badges
you should be able to pick icon badge and change the color to whatever a person's text message bubble color is so it matches plus a person can see when they get a text who it is just from the badge color
