BLACK night mode
The automatic night mode option is great,but what isn't great is that by default it goes to the dark mode and we don't have the option to chose either black or dark. Some of us that have AMOLED screens would benefit more from the black theme at night as it conserves a bit more battery (and looks better IMO).

Have Textra resync the ability to copy the messages in its database to the sms database and back.
Just to be clear, I really love Textra. It has been my go-to sms app ever since I discovered it in the play store. But when some things don't go well on my phone, like unsynced messages, I have a huge problem.
I always backup my messages. Thousands of them. I use SMS Backup & Restore to keep these messages when I transfer phones or do a factory reset of the phone. At times this works because Textra "automatically creates a copy in the sms database". But this isn't always the case. I've encountered times when textra works as it…160 votes -

Stop updates from double quadriple and even up to six copies of every single message every damn time you update!!!!
Every time I see the hyper drive app and your update graphic I am like please god, let them have fixed it but no, consistently it has been happening for YEARS! I need some messages for research and others are sentimental like my ex who died in January. I lose messages this way and end up with 2-6 copies of every single message I receive or send. Unread msgs options
A few things that can be added and should essentially be there in a any messaging app:
Count of the unread msgs on top when the app is open or on the particular msg thread
Clear differentiation between read and unread msgs(keep them bold if unread). At the moment if the msg notification is swiped then it is marked as read which doesn't make sense at all

Highlight new/unread message background
In message list view, the highlight dot that indicates a new/unread message is barely noticeable.

Search for emojis
Sometimes finding the right emoji can be a daunting task. You know it's there, and the emojis are grouped together coherently, but sometimes you gloss over the right emoji without realizing it.
An option to search emojis would be great. Android keyboard already has this, but I like using the emojis through Textra. For example, if I want to find the Z's, I can can just search it and find it quickly, as opposed to skimming all the emojis 20 times until I finally find it.
Still keep the section where you see the recently used!

Option to hide last message in main conversation list
It would be nice to have an option to hide the last received message from each of the recipients in the main conversation list.

Make Textra have the ability to send videos from any source, like my camera or SnapChat please!
When trying to attach a video into a message, Textra will not show ANY video taken with my phone or other app in the list of pictures that i have taken. It only shows photos. If I can't use Textra to send videos taken with my camera or SnapChat then I will have to get rid of Textra. My default messaging app does this with no problem.

Automatic Replying
Hi I think there should be an option of automatic replying. There should be an option by using that we could save our text and turn that option on for a limited time. And then app should reply everyone automatically that saved text.
For Example:
I am sleeping in my room and someone text me. The app should automatically reply "I am sleeping will reply you after awaking up".
Or
While I am driving or riding a bike it should automatically say that "I am driving" or "I am riding a bike".8 votes -
Dual SIM phones should have individual signature setting for each SIM
I use SIM 1 for work and SIM 2 for personal messages. I should be able to sign my work signature for SIM 1 messages and personal signature while sending messages from SIM 2

Textra sms backup & restore
It would be nice if Textra had an option to back up your text messages, so they can be restored when someone gets a new phone. Even if it's only a Pro user option, it would be something that one can take advantage of.
