An error occurred while saving the comment www.HawaiianHope.org commentedre : "I have a Note 8 and I have several messages that no matter what I do, I cant mark them as "read" "
Are those older messages that have been sitting as unread for a long time ? If so, i had that happen on my phone too (not the same) Seems if the messages sit for a really long time unread, then the program seems to get disconnected or looses the index for them and even when you read them it does not mark them read. If that is the problem try to reboot the phone, or even crash (force stop) the messaging and then reboot the phone. I think that is how i got to reindex my messages

An error occurred while saving the comment www.HawaiianHope.org commentedI'm not the developer, but am a programmer. Those marks are not just fancy dressing, they are physically different characters. They are called ASCII characters. some fonts use them, some do not, each font style can have a different interpretation of the ASCII codes above 128 (up to 255)
for Instance, the letter A is ASCII 65, B = 66, P = 80. 0-127 are standard on every computer. 128-255 are often unique per font. In order to "ignore" them, there would need to be a conversion table for every one of them to what they equate too. its a lot of data to have to manipulate. -

I just asked a somewhat related question.
Archive would be nice, but i would be happy if i could just eradicate all of the attached pictures that were sent out.
