An error occurred while saving the comment Eske Rahn commentedErhmm, you are aware that that this is the matter of the (virtual) KEYBOARD you are using, and not the texting app, right?
If you do not like what ever your phone came with, there are TONNES of different virtual keyboards out there like e.g. Swype

An error occurred while saving the comment Eske Rahn commentedEnter works just fine in Textra.
But of course you need to use a keyboard that got the ability.
(Hardware or software keyboard, I use hardware) -

An error occurred while saving the comment Eske Rahn commented(Note that from v3:28 we now CAN do this per conversation and not ust a general switch)
An error occurred while saving the comment Eske Rahn commentedTo some extent this exists. Under Settings, Group messaging, select BULK.
This will send sms only (unless you make a very long text or add media of course)
But it is a general setting, not something you can easily switch for the next message only.

An error occurred while saving the comment Eske Rahn commentedAgree, the new icon is pointless.
We are in a messenger app, so yes whatever we do is about a message....
A plus or a pencil makes sense for writing a new message.Eske Rahn supported this idea · -

An error occurred while saving the comment Eske Rahn commentedDo you also see this if you open the build in Messenger?
When textra from time to time get confused (I usually see this after massive deletes), I uninstall and reinstall textra, and that solves it. All messages are kept, but of course you have to set any settings within Tetra again.
But if you see it in Textra only, it might be worth the trouble to get rid of doubled messages.

An error occurred while saving the comment Eske Rahn commentedI have not tried to enter that many manually, I use a contact-group, and here you can have more.
HOWEVER be aware that Android introduced a REALLY annoying pest they call a 'feature' where they complains for every single base sms you send above 30!!! (Some manufacturers offer a way to increase this silly limit, but not all) So if you try to send say a 200 chars text to 40 people, in BULK mode, that is 80 base sms's, so you have to press "Allow" a LOT of times....

An error occurred while saving the comment Eske Rahn commentedYes this is a very irritating bug!
When you want to initiate a new conversation you can ONLY select the first number of contacts.
This prohibits access to both contacts with mail only, and secondary numbers and mail for contacts with multiple entries.
But once you manually enter the mail or number, as you mention, it CAN make the reverse lookup and find the correct contact...
I suggest that they simply include a standard enhance "+" for people with multiple entries, to make me select the entry I want.

An error occurred while saving the comment Eske Rahn commentedI definitely see the problem, and it would be smart. But can not see how it could be solved.
Correct me if I'm wrong but a group message (in Chat mode) is just an MMS sent with multiple recipients. And when Textra receives a message with the same set of persons (sender+recipient) it is put in the same conversation.
This means that everyone receiving the original message got you on the list, so anyone replying to all would reach you. And they could be on any OS. Some might even be mail to a pc.
As a WORKAROUND you can already MUTE a conversation (press and hold conversation, and mute button) but textra could enhance this though: The ability to (temporarily) set a specific conversation to "silent alerts", or "no notifications" or even "ignore"
The options from this workaround could also be offered for 'unknown senders' against spam.
In the advanced version it could even be automated so you could select windows in time where it is off/on, I think that could fit your problem perfectly.

An error occurred while saving the comment Eske Rahn commented(And YES I understand that this would be a different conversation, as it is another set of recipients)

An error occurred while saving the comment Eske Rahn commentedSettings, Group messaging, BULK
Though the explanation offered for each option is odd, this is the fix
(They can not send an sms as chat, the standard sms have one recipient only)BUT if you send to many people, the chat mode MIGHT be cheaper as it just send ONE MMS in Chat versus MULTIPLE SMS in Bulk.

Yeah it is really odd, this should be one of the least technical complicated features wished for, and yet they do not implement it.
As a workaround I suggest to
* make a conversation with TWO fictitious recipients (e.g. your self or a land line numbers)
* create the templates as individual messages, and 'send'
* rename the conversation to e.g. Templates
* Select and FORWARD the template as needed
