An error occurred while saving the comment Eske Rahn commentedI like the idea, but it is a bit complex, as the set of non-unicode characters available is language dependent, by a makrer in the SMS-header. But sure it should be possible to make an algorithm that searches for the language closest to the entered text, and then substitutes for the remaining.
For details, see e.g the "locking shift" sets here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GSM_03.38

An error occurred while saving the comment Eske Rahn commentedThe solution by dregio is better IMHO
Textra Could add an option "Silent alert for unknown senders"

An error occurred while saving the comment Eske Rahn commentedThis is a BIG issue, BUT i do not agree that SPLITTING it is the optimal solution. I think a better solution would be to ALSO show each group message in any conversation with each of the recipients (more generally show in conversations with any sub group),
I have tried to add this as a separate suggestion here:

An error occurred while saving the comment Eske Rahn commentedPart of it is already there as an option:
Settings, Group messaging, select "BULK"The explanations offered on the two choices is a bit odd (though not wrong), but once selected the description under is OK: "Sends a message to each recipients one by one"
Though you can still not see the group message-text in each of the recipients conversations.
I tried to add a separate suggestion for that part:

Special characters issue. But to complicate things what characters this is, is language dependent.
See e.g the rather complex story in more details here. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GSM_03.38
I suggest to turn on the character counter and if you see a sudden jump, you have used a character that requires textra to jump to unicode. OR avoid anything not standard A-Z and yes that can be a problem with national letters,
