There are a number of very good apps that focus specifically on backup and restore of messages. We recommend and use SMS Backup & Restore.
No point us re-inventing the wheel and losing focus on the core aspects of Textra.

@Max, that makes sense I suppose. If you ever do get the luxurious free time or boredom to work on this, I'd love to see that implemented along with PDF/DOC/image exporting of conversations with options to include sender name, phone number, date/time sent, and thumbnails of any attachments sent, for all messages.
That would really create a unique offering that only this app would provide. So many people spend so much time looking for a substantial app that can export conversations for legal purposes.
