Visually connected messages
It would look much more visually appealing if messages sent by the same person around the same time stuck together, and in group conversations only had their contact photo once.
Many messaging apps like Google messages, Signal, and Telegram do this, and it looks much cleaner and more visually appealing.
It's also helpful so we can better quickly understand when a message was sent, and grouping them helps group conversations.
For example: I have a group chat and sometimes my friends like to go on rants with lots of messages, and it would look so much nicer if they all…

customisation
ability to customize everything, from the conversation list to each individual text message. background, header, borders, text color, chat bubbles, everything. please. chomp is smoking you in this area. I'm almost tempted to go back to chomp but your app is a little bit cleaner... I think I'll be switching back eventually.

Google Messages Tapback Reactions
Textra did a good job hard-coding iMessage's tapback reactions to pin an emoji to a message rather than recieving the dreaded annoying emphasis text, but now Google Messages is taking a leap further to include their own RCS tapback reactions as well as SENDING iMessage the same annoying text that iMessage has been sending Android. For Textra to compete, this app definitely needs to incorporate their own RCS port as well as emoji reactions. I honestly might just switch over to Google Messages at this point. It's getting very difficult to keep up with the development of RCS. Basically, Textra…

Specific privacy notification options
I would like texts from designated conversations to show up private on my lock screen, but not all conversations. I would also like the option to be able to read them on my smartwatch but not my lock screen.

Change color of group text bubbles
To help avoid embarrassing message deliveries it would be great if message threads sent to more than one person had bubbles a contrasting color, so, when we tap on the thread seeing someone's name, we know it's only going to them if we see the default color. Thanks!
