Make new message button a simple cross/plus mark instead of logo, so it is less confusing
Make the new message button have a cross/plus mark instead of your logo inside of the circle because it is confusing to know what it does otherwise. Also being able to choose a custom color for it would be nice.

Select a picture for the conversation list background and a separate photo for in conversations
If you could select either separate colors for the conversation list as well as for inside conversations it, or choose a picture from inside your phone as separate backgrounds for either that would really improve the feel of the app.

PDF and other file attachment support beyond just images like other clients
Add the ability to attach and receive other file types other than images to text messages. If a colleague sends me a PDF or other file type on a text message I do not get their message or attachment like I did using the native Google client.

Disable Keep in Quick Compose
Allow users to disable Keep for appearing in Quick compose. I'm used to the position of every fav that I have, and I never use Keep from this menu. Now, my favs don't fit into the list because of the first element being Keep, and I missclick quite often.

attachments in Google Drive
Ability when sending videos or large images, to automatically upload to drive and send link instead. Similar to Apple's feature. Would require setting proper access level to uploaded file, not sure if Google API allows that.

How about blocking based on number & content.
That way spammers who messages from different numbers, could be blocked before they land in my conversation queue.

Lately I have been experiencing issues with MMS either attaching *gifs, memes, or pics. They upload to the text message & quickly disappear. Even the recipient states they cannot view the attached images or media. Please advise.
