Time Zone Adjustments
I currently have a family member on vacation in France and I'm in the US. I find myself asking my phone what time it is in Paris a lot so that I know where she's at in her day before I send her texts. Could a feature be added for us to set a contact as being in another time zone, either permanently or temporarily (within a date range we set)? In the conversation, maybe we could then see the current time for that contact up at the top somewhere. I just want more automatic awareness of her time when…

Retry on sending to multiple, ONLY to those failed!
We got an option to retry sending to multiple, when it fails (typically mms).
BUT Currently it retries sending to ALL!
I would suggest using the list it already got with check marks and exclamation on the one that failed, and
1) Send to those that have not been sent to first
2) Then retry to the individuals marked with exclamation point it failed on
3) If more retries are needed, the list is likely to be reduced gradually.9 votes -

Visual improvements with subtle shading and outlining
Many messaging apps like Signal and Telegram have slight shading and outlining across their UI and messages. These little details make things look much cleaner and more visually appealing, as well as making it seem less cheap and simple.
Even as an option in the settings, subtle visual improvements like these improve the experience pretty greatly. Looking professional and clean goes a long way.
And, to take it a step further, what if Textra adopted an option for gradient coloring, like Signal? On Signal, when you're customizing a conversation you can simply choose a color or you can choose two…

color Id for contacts
this is more of a concern. Textra seems to change the contact color it originally assigns.
ex. Jane Doe is originally assigned red, but when a new contact is added, textra automatically changes Jane Doe's color to purple.
I would like whatever color originally assigned or chosen to stay that color, I don't want textra to randomly change it.16 votes -
Visually connected messages
It would look much more visually appealing if messages sent by the same person around the same time stuck together, and in group conversations only had their contact photo once.
Many messaging apps like Google messages, Signal, and Telegram do this, and it looks much cleaner and more visually appealing.
It's also helpful so we can better quickly understand when a message was sent, and grouping them helps group conversations.

Move the voice to text button away from the send button, I often click voice to text and find out it sent the message instead. darn.
It's about 1/4" away on my phone.

Add the ability to group contacts by categories

pin unread messages on top
Please add an option in the settings that, when enabled, puts unread messages at the top of the list of messages and keeps them at the top until they are read, so that unread messages are not forgotten. This feature is available in Samsung phone messaging apps.

there is a typo from me not typing well and i send my text message saying all the wrong things. even with auto-correct and spell check on.
edit text option after the text message has been sent so there is no miss understanding from my recipient.
Thank you for hearing out my idea. I hope to see this feature in the near future while i continue to joyfully use this specific text messaging service for my particular phone service.

customizable background themes, changeable pictures for chatlist
making the chat list background, text background of individual chat and any other you open with Textra customizable by having either theme pictures, making keyboard backgrounds usable in the app background or your own pictures would make this app absolutely perfect for me!

Partiallly Delectable Text
I'd like to be able to copy partial messages according to the drag and copy function that is available in most formatting applications. As of now, only the entire message can be selected before pasting in another place. For example, someone sent me a message today that had an address on the end that I wanted to copy and paste into my address book. Auto-supress 2FA/OTP messages
Please enable auto-suppression of One Time Passwords messages after a definable period. This is something that Google Message already supports.

Keep messages for x days.
Only keep messages for a given number of days. I get messages from some several times a day and others a few times a year.

if you use your phone for work a lot, let us notate which contacts are "work" contacts and have a separate inbox for work texts. just an easy tab to switch from personal and work. would help organize a lot.
